Also called inukuguri Œ’φ. The opening between the floor frame of the alcove *tokonoma °‚ΜŠΤ, and the bottom edge of the wing wall *sodekabe ‘³•Η, which extends outward at right angles to the main wall in *shoin ‘‰@ style rooms, or tea ceremony rooms *chashitsu ’ƒŽΊ. It averages about 750-900mm high. The width depends on the measurement of extension from the main wall. A pillar called *tokobashira °’Œ defines the opening on the main-room side.
