soroimono 揃物

A set of *ukiyo-e 浮世絵 prints published in a series with a common title *gedai 外題 which was written on each print. However, a set of prints with a continuous composition is called tsuzukimono 続物, and not soroimono. The smallest set consisted of three prints, a triptych called sanpukutsui 三幅対 and sometimes *setsugekka 雪月花, depicting the snow, moon and cherry blossoms. Other examples of soroimono include: *Mutamagawa 六玉川, *nanakomachi 七小町, *hakkei 八景, *Sanjuurokkasen 三十六歌仙, *Toukaidou Gojuusantsugi 東海道五十三次, and hyakkei 百景 (hundred views).
