kioi　木負

A flying rafter support. A long horizontal timber or plate placed close to the ends of the base rafters *jidaruki 地垂木. Its function is to support the flying rafters *hien daruki 飛檐垂木. Therefore, the kioi is cut with widely spaced teeth as viewed from the front. In cross section the kioi is L-shaped.
