naijimon 内侍門

Also read naishimon. Traditionally, the timber gate through which virgin attendants entered a shrine. Structurally, it is identical to the *Seijoumon 清浄門 and the *Keigamon 慶賀門 at Kasuga Taisha Honsha 春日大社本社 (rebuilt in 1382-85) in Nara. It is located on the west side of the south corridor *kairou 回廊. It is a 4-legged gate *shikyakumon 四脚門, 1 bay wide, with a single entrance. The roof is gabled *kirizuma yane 切妻屋根, and covered with cypress bark *hiwadabuki 桧皮葺.
