| A
type of strut found in shinmei style shrine architecture, *shinmei-zukuri
神明造. Several struts are set on the main ridge, *munagi
棟木, to support a ridge-like, peaked member on top of which two *katsuogi
堅魚木, are placed. Wooden pegs, *hinuki
飛貫, which pass through the ridge-protecting boards, *aori-ita
障泥板, are inserted into these struts making the entire arrangement strong. |
