Side sanctuary. Areas beside the main hall *hondou 本堂, of a Buddhist temple constructed in the wayou style *wayou 和様. In general it is customary in Esoteric Buddhism mikkyou 密教 architecture to separate the peripheral areas *hisashi 廂, from the inner sanctuary *naijin 内陣 by sliding, latticed screens.
