tama-ishijiki　玉石敷

KEY WORD :　architecture / tea houses

A type of paving using naturally rounded stones *tama-ishi 玉石, about 15-30cm in diameter. Used for garden paths, especially in a tea garden *roji 露地. The joints are deep down so the stones stick out, as though washed by the rain.
