The term igeta is often indiscriminately used for trimming in a diamond-shaped pattern hishi-igeta •HˆδŒ…, on doors or transoms *ranma —“ŠΤ. If there is a break in the span of the grid pattern, it is called *yareigeta ”jˆδŒ… (broken grid) The first character, means well ; the second means purlin or beam *keta Œ…. Thus, igeta means the upper-most frame built on the square side of a well crib.
