Burdock masonry. A construction technique used to lay the stones in a dry stone wall *ishigaki 石垣. It refers specifically to the laying of roughly cut or naturally formed rocks that are shaped like a burdock: the depth *ishi-no-hikae 石の控え, is large compared to the width of the rock face, ishizura 石面 or tsura 面, at the surface of the stone wall.
