| Lit. independent donjon. Also called dokuritsushiki tenshu 独立式天守, dokuritsu tenshukaku 独立天守閣. A large, single, timber-framed castle tower *yagura 櫓 with no other structures connected to it. Good examples are Uwajimajou 宇和島城 in Ehime prefecture, Maruokajou 丸岡城 in Fukui prefecture, and Bitchuu-Matsuyamajou 備中松山城 in Okayama prefecture. | ||||||
