zenmon 前門

An especially impressive front gate or entry. Examples are *hirakaramon 平唐門 or *shikyakumon 四脚門, 4-legged gates with undulating bargeboards on the gable ends, for example; Myoushinji Gyokuhouin 妙心寺玉鳳院 (1409), and Bishouan Zenmon 微笑庵前門, in Kyoto.
