Also called *tatamiyose 畳寄, or abbreviated to yose 寄. A horizontal timber level with the bottom of the lower sill is placed under the wall between posts. It is level with the threshold and fills a gap between wall and the plank flooring or flooring covered with straw mats *tatami 畳, in an alcove *tokonoma 床の間. When the floors are covered with tatami, the term, tatamiyose is generally used.
