Lit. Japanese things. A term used in *chanoyu ’ƒ“’ in contradistinction to *karamono “‚•¨. It is often used for *chaire ’ƒ“ό made of Japanese materials. During the Momoyama and Edo periods, wamono were produced in Karatsu (*‚‹aratsuyaki “‚’ÏΔ), Takatori (*takatoriyaki ‚ŽζΔ), Bizen (*bizenyaki ”υ‘OΔ), Satsuma (*satsumayaki ŽF–€Δ), Tanba (*tanbayaki ’O”gΔ), Zeze ‘VŠ, and Shigaraki (*shigarakiyaki MŠyΔ).
