sashikake 差掛

Also called sashikake yane 差掛屋根 or sashidashi 差出. A pent roof, shed roof or lean-to roof covering an extension of a building that is lower than, but attached to, the main part of a structure. It should not be confused with either katabisashi 片廂, a pent roof like an eave set below the main roof, or with a type of rain deflector, mabisashi 眉廂 over a window or door.
