Also kagidatami Œ®ô. The straw mat *tatami ô, into which the sunken firebox or hearth *ro ˜F, is placed. In a 4 1/2-mat room, the rodatami is the 1/2-size mat in the room's center. In a large room *hiroma LŠÔ, a 3 or 4 mat room for instance, the firebox is cut into one of the guests' mats. If the hearth is set into the host's mat *temaedatami “_‘Oô, it is referred to as *mukougiri ŒüØ. If set into in a corner it is called *sumiro ‹÷˜F. The latter two mats are also called rodatami.
