ookabe 大壁

A wall which is completely plastered so that the pillars or posts are not visible. This method is common for the construction of the walls of storehouses *dozou 土蔵. If the pillars on the exterior side of the wall are covered, but those on the inside of the storehouse are visible, the wall is still called ookabe.
