mae-nagare 前流

The front gable of a gable roof that flows directly away from the ridge and extends further than the rear gable. The long front extension covers the shallow porch and steps leading to it. Usually found only on shrine buildings in the shinmei style *shinmei-zukuri 神明造. Although the verges *minokou 箕甲, usually curve downward, they are not considered part of the mae-nagare.
