1 A tile seat. A long timber rail on the sheathing which covers the rafters and eave support of a roof. The upper surface of the rail is scalloped to conform to the shape of the broad concave eave-end tiles *nokihiragawara 軒平瓦 set upon it.

2 A long slender timber batten affixed to the eave-ends of tiled vernacular houses *minka 民家 to support the lowest row of shallow concave tiles and to prevent them from slipping.
