| Also *karahafu
gegyo “‚”j•—Œœ‹›. Lit. rabbit-fur cover. A type of decorative wooden beam-end cover *gegyo Œœ‹›, attached to the top of a Chinese style gable *karahafu “‚”j•—. As the crest of the undulating gable is almost horizontal, the unokedooshi has a correspondingly flat shape, with symmetrical fins, hire •h spreading out right and left. Unlike other gegyo, the unokedooshi has no metal foil *rokuyou ˜Z—t. The oldest extant example in Japan can be seen on the miniature shrine *zushi ~Žq in Houryuuji *Shouryouin –@—²Ž›¹—ì‰@ (ca 1278), Nara. |
