Also written 内隈. Lit. interior shading. A technique *kumadori 隈取 in non-western painting where shading is added just inside the outlines or slightly inside the colored area (if there are no visible outlines). This gives a sense of three-dimensionality to the object depicted and also serves to accent areas of the painting.
