sumioyabashira　隅親柱

The end or corner newel post of a railing *kouran 高欄. The post is topped by a type of onion-shaped head decoration *giboshi 擬宝珠, that leans forward slightly. Sumioyabashira are also occasionally found on the main posts, oyabashira 親柱 of a bridge.
