Lit. corner tail stone. The stone that butts against the rear face tomozura 友面 of the corner stone *sumi-ishi 隅石 and the corner side stone sumiwaki-ishi 隅脇石 in a grouping of stones at the corner of a stone-faced castle wall *ishigaki 石垣.
