Also termed soutou tenshu 層塔天守. A multi-storied castle tower. A technically advanced tower employing the same careful rules of timberframe construction as the Buddhist five-storied pagoda *gojuu-no-tou 五重の塔. Aside from the upper-most storey, every storey has a tiled, hipped roof.
