sanmen zushi　三面厨子

A miniature shrine characterized by three doors, one placed at the front and one on each side of the structure. It contains Buddhist statues, sutras, or other Buddhist relics, *shari 舎利. Example: the Tamamushi miniature shrine, *Tamamushi no zushi 玉虫厨子, (mid-7c) owned by Houryuuji 法隆寺, in Nara.
