| Also called hashirou ΄L. A covered bridge, often with a resting place at the central point. Roukyou can also be a passageway or corridor that resembles a bridge. It may also span part of a garden or bridge two wings of a building. It sometimes spans a pond and is arched in part or entirely. There are several extant examples: Koudaiji Rousenrou δODL (17c), which incorporates a moon-viewing stand, tsukimidai ©δ; Higashihonganji Shouseien Kaitourou {θΒ¬ρ¨L (17c); Toufukuji Tsuutenkyou ΚV΄ (probably a 14c structure, last rebuilt 1951); and Heian Jinguu Higashi Shin-en no Hashidono ½ΐ_{_Μ΄a (19c), all in Kyoto. | ||||||
