Ch: manhuahui. Lit. gathering amid myriad flowers. A Chinese painting subject showing the peony procession of Yangzhou 揚州 (Jp: Youshuu 揚州). Because Yangzhou was known for beautiful peonies, the governor Cai Fanqing (Jp: Sai Hankyou 蔡繁卿) organized a huge civic event in which the people of the city, all holding flowers, gathered in a central location. The theme was rendered in late 16c fan paintings (for example at Nanzenji 南禅寺, Kyoto) by *Kanouha 狩野派 artists.
