| Also ˇÝ; matabisashi Ý, ů. Lit. grandchild aisle. A narrow additional aisle. Traditional buildings, especially temples and some shrine buildings, have a central core *moya ęŽ and on one to four sides an additional aisle called *hisashi ů. The use of magobisashi also appear in the shinden style buildings *shinden-zukuri Qa˘ of the aristocracy. Example: Kakurinji Taishidou ßŃžq° (1113), Hyougo prefecture. After the end of the 13c, when new styles and new methods of construction were introduced from China, the magobisashi was rarely employed. | ||||||
