The shorter eave on the rear section of a gable roof. The shrine style *nagare-zukuri 流造 has a very long extended front roof and short rear roof. However, the short gable side of the roof may be on the front in a waiting pavilion *machiai 待合 in the garden of a tea ceremony house.
