Lit. beam cover. Also *kudarigegyo 降懸魚, ketakakushi gegyo 桁隠懸魚, *wakigegyo 脇懸魚, keta eburi-ita 桁惠振板. A decorative gable pendant *gegyo 懸魚 used to conceal and protect and the ends of purlins in a gable roof.
