koshinageshi 腰長押

An horizontal nonpenetrating tie beam *nageshi 長押 positioned below the central part of a wall, often below the windows in a temple or shrine building. However, in a formal shoin style room *shoin 書院 it was an ornamental dado cap without structural purpose.
