Also kiremen. The simple chamfer used on a square post with straight-cut, 45 degrees planed corners. The tool used is a plane called *hiraganna 平鉋. oomen 大面 or oomendori 大面取 refer to the largest chamfer used in the 7c-9c. During the 10c-12c, kirimen became narrower. The width of a chamfer was governed by the perimeter and height of the post. Sometimes the age of a post can be determined by the type and size of the chamfer.
