Also gomazuki ごまずき. A woodblock print *ukiyo-e 浮世絵 technique whereby a thin layer of one color was printed over another color to suggest transparency. Used, for example, for the slightly rough texture of a silk gauze robe. The second layer is lightly printed with a printer's pad *baren 馬連.
