| One type of warrior run *mushabashiri 武者走, comprised of stone steps ishidan 石段, that lead to the top of the earthen embankment *doi 土居, or stone wall *ishigaki 石垣, inside a castle. As their width made it difficult to build them on a diagonal the steps were constructed straight up the slope and were therefore steeply inclined. They were wide enough to allow a large number of troops to move about at once. |
