| Mount Emei. Ch: Emeishan. A mountain in the southwest of Sichuan (Jp: Shisen 四川) Province, known since ancient times as the site of a miracle by *Fugen 普賢. Paintings of Mt. Emei are probably related to the poem "Moon on Mt. Emei" (Ch: Emeishanyuege, Jp: Gabi sangetsuka 峨眉山月歌) by the Tang poet Li Bai (Jp: *Ri Haku 李白; 701-62). For instance, the famous scroll painting entitled Gabirochou zukan 峨眉露頂図巻 by Yosa Buson 与謝蕪村 (1716-84) held by the Bunkachou 文化庁 is thought to be based on the poem. | ||||||
