Also hakuen 白鉛, oshiroi 白粉, hafuni 白粉. White lead. A toxic white powder of basic lead carbonate (2PbCO3.Pb(OH)2), used as a white pigment *ganryou 顔料 in paints *enogu 絵具, housepaints and printing ink. Traditionally made in Japan by piling strips of lead over a charcoal fire containing vinegar.
