SGRA at University of Tokyo Symposium

SGRA was at the 2nd International Symposium "Environmental-Friendly Agriculture Based on Community Resources: A Strategy for Sustainable Development and Biodiversity" College of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo (UT) Japan, March 2, 2013. The symposium is organized by UT Professors Masamitsu Yasaka, Toru Nakanishi, and Makoto Maruyama (see here for the program)

Dr. Max Maquito was a discussant on Dr. Joe Medina's presentation on "Promotion of Organic Agriculture: Experience in Negros Occidental"

Dr. Maquito's discussion slides were entitled "The DIRI Model: A Model from Negros"

The DIRI (Downstream Integrated Radicular Import-Substitution) Model was first presented publicly in the SGRA Sustainable Shared Growth Seminar 15. Dr. Maquito is now working closely with Dr. Medina, Mr. Nonoy Moraca and Mr. Ramon Uy (both Seminar 15 presenters) on more concretely formulating the DIRI model. This symposium marks the Japan debut of the DIRI model.
