The Fifth Asia Future Conference (AFC#5) invites proposals for papers, short papers, posters, and art exhibits in line with the following guidelines.<\/p>\n

Theme<\/h3>\n

The overall theme for the conference is:<\/p>\n

SUSTAINABLE SHARED GROWTH: <\/strong>OUR COMMON HOME AND HAPPINESS<\/p>\n

Sustainable Shared Growth refers to rapid economic growth that is at the same time equitable and environmentally-friendly.<\/p>\n

While the world has experienced unprecedented economic growth, this has come together with increasingly unacceptable costs from widening disparities in wealth\/income, as well as environmental degradation.<\/p>\n

This conference adopts an interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international approach to the vision of achieving the Sustainable Shared Growth. It seeks to understand the various mechanisms that prevent or promote Sustainable Shared Growth from varied lenses, in the hope of finding paths towards fulfilling its vision.<\/p>\n

We welcome full papers, short papers, poster\/exhibition proposals related to the following topics in order to encourage interdisciplinary discussions at AFC#5. From the following list, you will be asked to choose three topics that are most related to your research. Languages<\/h1>\n

The official languages of AFC#5 are English and Japanese only. Select the language of your oral presentation or poster presentation when you register. Abstracts in English must be no more than 250 words. If your oral presentation is in Japanese, please submit your abstract both in Japanese (600 characters) and English (250 words). You do not need to submit an English version of your full paper or short paper if your oral presentation is in Japanese.<\/p>\n

Presentations<\/h1>\n

The AFC aims to provide a platform for researchers and scholars who have studied in Japan or who are interested in Japan to meet and discuss the future of Asia. The AFC is an international and interdisciplinary conference, and encourages diverse approaches to global issues in order to promote lively discussions. The AFC is not a conference for a specific field of study. Try to make your presentation comprehensible to a general public.<\/p>\n

Start Call for Paper Abstracts will be on October 10, 2018. Please note that papers to be presented in English should be in English; papers to be presented in Japanese should be both in English and Japanese.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Short Paper (2 to 3 pages)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For lively, international and interdisciplinary discussions at the conference, we would ask you to submit a short paper (2-3 pages) online that describes the contents of your oral presentation. Your presentation handouts, e.g. summary and PPT slides can be accepted in lieu of a short paper.<\/p>\n

    The deadline for online submissions of abstracts is June 30, 2019, and upon acceptance, the deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of short papers is October 31, 2019. We will consider it as a retraction of your presentation if we do not receive your short paper by the deadline. Short papers are not eligible for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards.<\/p>\n

    1. Full Paper<\/strong>\uff08<\/strong>between 5 to 10 pages<\/strong>\uff09<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      *Punctual submissions are eligible for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards<\/p>\n

      AFC encourages research with an international and interdisciplinary approach and provides an opportunity to further enhance such research. Even though your work may not yet be complete, we encourage you to submit work-in-progress in order to improve it.<\/p>\n

      If you are applying for the AFC Scholarship and\/or Best Paper Awards, the deadline for online submission of abstracts is January 20 (revised), 2019, and upon acceptance, you can apply for AFC Scholarships. The scholarship announcement is included in the notice of acceptance. The selection results will be released before May 31, 2019. The deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of the full papers is July 31, 2019.<\/p>\n

      In addition, the AFC Academic Committee will select 20 Best Papers. Awards are given to the Best Paper authors at the Conference, and the best papers will be included in the edited collection \u201cToward the Future of Asia: My Proposal Vol. 5\u201d to be published after the conference. Those who have been awarded the AFC Best Paper Award in the past are not eligible.<\/p>\n

      If you do not apply for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards, the deadline for online submission of abstracts is June 30, 2019. Upon acceptance, the deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of the full papers is October 31, 2019.<\/p>\n

      1. Poster Presentation and Creative Project<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Bring your poster presentation printed on A1 size paper to the Conference<\/p>\n

        Bring your creative project\/art work to the Conference and set it up by yourself<\/p>\n

        The deadline for online submissions of abstracts is June 30, 2019, and upon acceptance, the deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of the data of the poster presentation and creative project is October 31, 2019. We will consider it as a retraction of your presentation if we do not receive your data by the deadline. The AFC Academic Committee will select the Best Poster\/Exhibition during the conference. Poster presentations and exhibitions are not eligible for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards.<\/p>\n

        Assignments of Parallel Sessions<\/h1>\n

        Parallel Sessions will be held on January 10, 2020 in Alabang Metro Manila, and on January 11, 2020 in the University of the Philippines, Los Ba\u00f1os (UPLB) Laguna, Philippines. The schedule for parallel sessions will be announced on the AFC Online System by December 10, 2019.<\/p>\n

        1. General Session<\/strong> (Sessions arranged by AFC Organizing Committee)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Except for those arranged by groups and those for student sessions (see below), all the full papers and short papers that are submitted online by October 31, 2019 will be grouped according to the language of oral presentations (English or Japanese). Sessions will then be assigned according to the topics (see above) that you choose when you submit your paper online.<\/p>\n

          1. Group Session<\/strong> (Sessions arranged by groups of presenters.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            If you want to arrange a session by yourself, organize a group consisting of between 3 to 5 presenters, with 1 or 2 session chairs and discussants. Please provide the following information via email (afc@aisf.or.jp<\/a>) to the AFC office before June 30, 2019.<\/p>\n
