The Fifth Asia Future Conference (AFC#5) invites proposals for papers, short papers, posters, and art exhibits in line with the following guidelines.

Theme

The overall theme for the conference is:

SUSTAINABLE SHARED GROWTH: OUR COMMON HOME AND HAPPINESS

Sustainable Shared Growth refers to rapid economic growth that is at the same time equitable and environmentally-friendly.

While the world has experienced unprecedented economic growth, this has come together with increasingly unacceptable costs from widening disparities in wealth/income, as well as environmental degradation.

This conference adopts an interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international approach to the vision of achieving the Sustainable Shared Growth. It seeks to understand the various mechanisms that prevent or promote Sustainable Shared Growth from varied lenses, in the hope of finding paths towards fulfilling its vision.

We welcome full papers, short papers, poster/exhibition proposals related to the following topics in order to encourage interdisciplinary discussions at AFC#5. From the following list, you will be asked to choose three topics that are most related to your research. Parallel sessions will be arranged based on the themes you choose.

Languages

The official languages of AFC#5 are English and Japanese only. Select the language of your oral presentation or poster presentation when you register. Abstracts in English must be no more than 250 words. If your oral presentation is in Japanese, please submit your abstract both in Japanese (600 characters) and English (250 words). You do not need to submit an English version of your full paper or short paper if your oral presentation is in Japanese.

Presentations

The AFC aims to provide a platform for researchers and scholars who have studied in Japan or who are interested in Japan to meet and discuss the future of Asia. The AFC is an international and interdisciplinary conference, and encourages diverse approaches to global issues in order to promote lively discussions. The AFC is not a conference for a specific field of study. Try to make your presentation comprehensible to a general public.

Start Call for Paper Abstracts will be on October 10, 2018. Please note that papers to be presented in English should be in English; papers to be presented in Japanese should be both in English and Japanese.

1. Short Paper (2 to 3 pages)

For lively, international and interdisciplinary discussions at the conference, we would ask you to submit a short paper (2-3 pages) online that describes the contents of your oral presentation. Your presentation handouts, e.g. summary and PPT slides can be accepted in lieu of a short paper.

The deadline for online submissions of abstracts is June 30, 2019, and upon acceptance, the deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of short papers is October 31, 2019. We will consider it as a retraction of your presentation if we do not receive your short paper by the deadline. Short papers are not eligible for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards.

2. Full Paper（between 5 to 10 pages）

*Punctual submissions are eligible for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards

AFC encourages research with an international and interdisciplinary approach and provides an opportunity to further enhance such research. Even though your work may not yet be complete, we encourage you to submit work-in-progress in order to improve it.

If you are applying for the AFC Scholarship and/or Best Paper Awards, the deadline for online submission of abstracts is January 20 (revised), 2019, and upon acceptance, you can apply for AFC Scholarships. The scholarship announcement is included in the notice of acceptance. The selection results will be released before May 31, 2019. The deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of the full papers is July 31, 2019.

In addition, the AFC Academic Committee will select 20 Best Papers. Awards are given to the Best Paper authors at the Conference, and the best papers will be included in the edited collection “Toward the Future of Asia: My Proposal Vol. 5” to be published after the conference. Those who have been awarded the AFC Best Paper Award in the past are not eligible.

If you do not apply for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards, the deadline for online submission of abstracts is June 30, 2019. Upon acceptance, the deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of the full papers is October 31, 2019.

3. Poster Presentation and Creative Project

Bring your poster presentation printed on A1 size paper to the Conference

Bring your creative project/art work to the Conference and set it up by yourself

The deadline for online submissions of abstracts is June 30, 2019, and upon acceptance, the deadline for online submissions (upload PDF files) of the data of the poster presentation and creative project is October 31, 2019. We will consider it as a retraction of your presentation if we do not receive your data by the deadline. The AFC Academic Committee will select the Best Poster/Exhibition during the conference. Poster presentations and exhibitions are not eligible for the AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards.

Assignments of Parallel Sessions

Parallel Sessions will be held on January 10, 2020 in Alabang Metro Manila, and on January 11, 2020 in the University of the Philippines, Los Baños (UPLB) Laguna, Philippines. The schedule for parallel sessions will be announced on the AFC Online System by December 10, 2019.

1. General Session (Sessions arranged by AFC Organizing Committee)

Except for those arranged by groups and those for student sessions (see below), all the full papers and short papers that are submitted online by October 31, 2019 will be grouped according to the language of oral presentations (English or Japanese). Sessions will then be assigned according to the topics (see above) that you choose when you submit your paper online.

2. Group Session (Sessions arranged by groups of presenters.)

If you want to arrange a session by yourself, organize a group consisting of between 3 to 5 presenters, with 1 or 2 session chairs and discussants. Please provide the following information via email ([email protected]) to the AFC office before June 30, 2019.

• Title and abstract of your session (if your oral presentation is in Japanese, write both in Japanese and English.)
• Name and AFC User Registration Numbers (4 digits) and Submission Numbers (3 digits) of all the presenters and chairs.
• Language of your (session) presentation.

3. Student Sessions

Master course and undergraduate students are encouraged to make presentations in the Student Sessions. Ph.D. course students can also choose this session if they prefer.

Submission Details

• Register for an account on the AFC#5 website. Upon registration, you can use your ID and password to continuously access and make any changes to account details. When you register, you will find the User Registration Number (4 digits) in the Online System. Please be sure to include this number when you contact the AFC Secretariat. If you have participated and registered in the previous AFC (e.g. AFC 3 in Kita Kyushu or AFC 4 in Seoul), you may use the same ID and Password. In this case, please do not forget to update your information.
• Submit your paper/poster/exhibition abstracts through your personal webpage on the AFC website:
• Submission Period for abstracts：

[A] January 20 (revised), 2019: Deadline of abstracts of full papers to apply for AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards.

[B] June 30, 2019: Deadline of abstracts of full papers, short papers, posters/exhibitions that are NOT eligible for AFC Scholarship and Best Paper Awards.

• Language for abstracts: English (250 Words). If your oral presentation and poster presentation will be in Japanese, submit both English (250 Words) and Japanese (600 characters).
• The AFC Academic Committee will screen the abstracts that are received between October 10, 2018 and January 20 (revised), 2019 and the results will be sent by email before March 31, 2019. Acceptance of your abstract means acceptance of your oral or poster presentations or exhibition at the Conference.
• [AFC Scholarship] Abstracts of full papers submitted by January 1, 2019 and accepted by March 31, 2019 will be eligible for the AFC Scholarships. The application form will be included in the notification of the acceptance. The result of the selection will be notified to all applicants before May 31, 2019.
• [Best Paper Award] On the premise that abstracts have been submitted by January 20 (revised), 2019, and accepted by March 31, 2019, full papers (at least 5 A4-size pages, at most 10 pages) submitted by July 31, 2019 will be screened for the Best Paper Award. Upon notification of acceptance of your abstract, submit (upload PDF files) your full paper through your personal account on the AFC#5 website.
  *Oral presentation of the paper and attendance during the Awarding and Closing Ceremony is a MUST for Best Paper Awardees.
  *Those who have been awarded AFC Best Paper Awards in the past are not eligible.
• Upon notification of acceptance of the abstract, submit (upload PDF files) your full paper, short paper (or presentation handouts), or poster/exhibition data through your personal account on the AFC#5 website by July 31, 2019 (if applying for AFC Scholarship or Best Paper Awards), or by October 31, 2019 (if not applying/not eligible for AFC scholarship or Best Paper Awards). We will consider it as a retraction of your presentation if we do not receive your submission by the deadline.
• The results of Best Paper Selection by our Academic Committee will be announced by November 11, 2019. The schedule of parallel sessions will be announced on the AFC Online System by December 10, 2019.

アジア未来会議は下記の要項にしたがって論文・小論文・ポスター/展示を募集します。

テーマ

本会議全体のテーマは「持続的な共有型成長－みんなの故郷(ふるさと)、みんなの幸福(しあわせ)」です。

「持続的な共有型成長/Sustainable Shared Growth」とは公正さと環境との調和を前提とした経済成長のことです。

今日、世界はこれまで経験したことがないほどの経済成長をとげています。しかし、この成長は受入れがたい貧富格差の拡大と環境破壊を伴うものでした。第５回アジア未来会議では学際的、国際的な視点から「持続的な共有型成長」のヴィジョンを議論すると共に、その実現を目ざすために必要と思われるメカニズムを多角的な視点から考察し、実現のための途を探って行きたいと思います。

下記のテーマに関連した論文、小論文、ポスター/展示発表を募集します。登録時に一番関連しているテーマを3つ選択していただき、それに基づいて分科会セッションが割り当てられます。

発表言語

第５回アジア未来会議の公用語は英語と日本語です。登録時に、まず口頭発表およびポスター/展示発表の言語を選んでいただきます。英語で発表する場合の発表要旨は250語以内に纏めてください。日本語で発表する場合は、発表要旨のみ日本語（600字）と英語（250語）との両方で投稿していただきます。

論文および小論文は日本語のみでけっこうです。

発表の種類

アジア未来会議は日本で学んだ人、日本に関心のある人が集まり、アジアの未来について語り合う場を提供することを目的としています。アジア未来会議では、国際的かつ学際的なアプローチによる、多面的な議論を期待しています。専門分野の学術学会ではないので、誰にでもわかりやすい説明を心掛けてください。

論文の発表要旨の募集は2018年10月10日から開始します。英語の論文の場合には英語の発表要旨を、日本語の論文の場合には日本語と英語の発表要旨を投稿してください。

1. 小論文 short paper（2～3ページ）

自分の専門とは違う研究者も参加して国際的かつ学際的な議論をすることを前提に、口頭発表の内容をまとめた小論文を投稿してください。小論文の代わりに発表レジュメ・パワーポイント等の配布資料でも構いません。

発表要旨のオンライン投稿の締め切りは2019年6月30 日、合格後の小論文のオンライン投稿（PDF版のアップロード）の締め切りは2019年10月31日です。10月31日までに投稿がない場合は、アジア未来会議における発表を辞退したと見なされますのでご注意ください。小論文は、奨学金、優秀論文賞の選考対象にはなりません。

2. 論文 full paper（10ページ以内）― 奨学金、優秀論文賞の選考対象になります

アジア未来会議は、多面的な議論によって各人の研究をさらに磨く場を提供します。必ずしも完成した研究でなくても、現在進めている研究を改善するための、途中段階の論文を投稿していただいても構いません。

奨学金と優秀論文賞に申請する場合、発表要旨のオンライン投稿締め切りは2019年1月20日（改訂）で、発表要旨の合格後、論文を投稿して奨学金を申請することができます。奨学金の選考結果は2019年5月31日までに通知します。合格後の論文のオンライン投稿（PDF版のアップロード）の締め切りは2019年7月31日です。

また、学術委員会による審査により、優秀論文約20本が選出されます。優秀論文には、アジア未来会議において優秀賞が授与され、会議後に出版する優秀論文集「アジアの未来へー私の提案Vol.5」に収録されます。既にアジア未来会議で優秀論文賞を受賞したことのある方は、選考の対象外となりますので予めご了承ください。

奨学金と優秀論文賞に申請しない場合、発表要旨のオンライン投稿締め切りは2019年6月30日で、合格後の論文のオンライン投稿（PDF版のアップロード）の締め切りは2019年10月31日です。

3. ポスター発表/展示

• ポスターはA１サイズの紙に印字して当日持参・展示していただきます
• 展示作品は当日の朝に自分で搬入し展示していただきます

発表要旨のオンライン投稿締め切りは2019年6月30 日で、合格後のポスター/展示のデータのオンライン投稿（PDF版のアップロード）の締め切りは2019年10月31日です。10月31日までに投稿がない場合は、アジア未来会議における発表を辞退したと見なされますのでご注意ください。

アジア未来会議の期間中に、AFC学術委員により会優秀ポスター/展示賞数本が選出されます。ポスター/展示作品は、奨学金と優秀論文賞の選考対象にはなりません。

分科会セッションの割り当て

分科会は、2020年1月10日（金）にメトロ・マニラのアラバン（Alabang）で、1月11日（土）にフィリピン大学ロス・バニョス（Los Baños）校で開催します。分科会セッションのスケジュールは、2019年12月10日までにAFCホームページに発表します。

• 個人投稿：アジア未来会議実行委員会が割り当てる

下記のグループセッションと学生セッションのものを除き、2019年10月31日までに投稿された論文または小論文は、まず口頭発表言語によって英語、日本語のセッションに分けられます。次に、登録時に選んでいただく３つのテーマに基づき分科会セッションを割り当てられます。

• グループで独自のセッションを作る

独自のセッションを希望する方は、発表者3～5名、座長・討論者1～2名のグループを作り、①セッションのタイトルと要旨（英語の発表の場合は英語のみ、日本語の発表の場合は英語と日本語）、②発表者および座長・討論者の氏名とAFCユーザー登録番号（4桁）と投稿番号（3桁）③発表言語を、2019年6月30日までにアジア未来会議事務局へEメール（[email protected]）でお送りください。

• 学生セッション

大学院修士課程や学部の学生は、学生セッションに参加してください。大学院博士課程の学生は、一般セッションにも参加できますが、学生セッションを選ぶこともできます。

投稿方法

1. 第５回アジア未来会議のホームページからユーザー登録をしてください。一度登録すると自分で設定したIDとパスワードにより何度でもアクセスして自分のアカウント情報を改訂することができます。登録すると4桁のユーザー登録番号が自動作成され画面に表示されますますので、ご確認ください。お問い合わせ等の時には必ずこの番号を知らせてください。北九州における第3回アジア未来会議、ソウルにおける第4回アジア未来会議に参加された方は当時登録したIDとパスワードを使うことができます。ただ、その場合は登録情報をアップデートするのを忘れないでください。
2. ユーザー登録が終わると第５回アジア未来会議ホームページ上のご自分のページに発表要旨をオンライン投稿できます。

3． 奨学金・優秀論文賞の選考対象となる2018年10月10日から2019年1月20日（改訂）の間に投稿された論文の発表要旨は、学術委員会によって審査され、3月31日までに合否をEメールでお知らせします。発表要旨の合格通知をうけた方は、第５回アジア未来会議で口頭発表かポスター/展示発表をしていただきます。

4． [AFC奨学金] 2019年1月20日（改訂）までに発表要旨を投稿し、2019年3月31日までに合格の通知を受けたとった方は、AFC奨学金の申請ができます。AFC奨学金の募集案内は合格通知に含まれています。AFC奨学金の選考結果は2019年5月31日までに申請者全員にお知らせします。

5． [優秀論文] 2019年1月20日（改訂）までに発表要旨が投稿され、3月31日までに合格し、2019年7月31日までに投稿された論文（フルペーパー：A4判で5ページ以上10ページ以下）は、優秀論文賞の審査対象になります。発表要旨の合格通知を受け取ったら、発表要旨に基づいた論文のPDFデータをAFCホームページ上のご自分のページからオンライン投稿（アップロード）してください。

＊優秀論文賞の受賞者は、論文の口頭発表とクロージングパーティーでの授賞式に出席することが義務となります。

＊今までにAFC優秀論文賞を受賞した方は対象外となりますので、あらかじめご了承ください。

6．奨学金と優秀論文賞の対象となる論文は2019年7月31日までにAFCホームページ上のご自分のページから投稿（アップロード）してください。奨学金と優秀論文賞の対象外の論文、小論文、ポスター発表/展示のPDFデータは、2019年10月31日までにAFCホームページ上のご自分のページから投稿（アップロード）してください。小論文の代わりに発表レジュメ・PPT配布資料でも結構です。期日までに投稿されない場合は、アジア未来会議における発表を辞退したと見なされますのでご注意ください。

７．学術委員会による優秀論文賞の選考結果は、2019年11月11日までに発表します。分科会のスケジュールは、2019年12月10日までにAFCオンラインシステム上に発表します。
