Selected Iconography, a late Heian compendium on Buddhist iconography. Also called JIKKANSHOU \Šͺ΄ (Selections in Ten Chapters) and SON'YOUSHOU ‘Έ—e΄ (Selection of Sacred Figures). ZUZOUSHOU includes 142 illustrations of sacred images and mandalas *mandara ™ΦδΆ—…, arranged by iconographic types and excerpts from sutras and other sacred texts. Although the original was lost, there are numerous extant copies, some of which include colored pictures. The postscript to the Daigoji ‘ηŒνŽ› version, the earliest copy made in 1193, tells that Byoudoubou Yougon •½“™–[‰iŒ΅ (d.1151) of Touji “ŒŽ› (Kyoto) presented the work to the emperor in Houen •Ϋ‰„ 5 (1139). However the postscript to another version in Daigoji made in Bun'ei •Ά‰i era (1264-75) tells that the true editor is Shoujoubou Ejuu Ÿ’θ–[ŒbY, whose name is also quoted in *BESSON ZAKKI •Κ‘ΈŽG‹L (1170's) as an editor of ZUZOUSHOU. The Jourakuji νŠyŽ› version (1226) is reproduced in DAINIHON BUKKYOU ZENSHO ‘ε“ϊ–{•§‹³‘S‘, while the Entsuuji ‰~’ΚŽ› version (1309/10) is included in TAISHOU SHINSHUU DAIZOUKYOU ‘吳Vγω‘ε‘ Œo.
