Lit. Zen ‘T temple style gardens. A modern term designating the various types of gardens associated with Zen sect temples. Zen'inshiki-no-niwa include dry landscape *karesansui ŒÍŽR…; gardens *shoinniwa ‘‰@’ë; and tea gardens *chaniwa ’ƒ’ë. Although these garden types are not exclusive to Zen temples, the forms were largely developed within the Zen cultural context and have the simple elegance of the Zen artistic spirit.
