wakidana 脇棚

Shelves forming part of an arrangement in the space next to the decorative alcove *tokonoma 床の間, wakidana refers to two shelves on either side of a slightly higher central shelf nakadana 中棚, all suspended from a single long shelf that reaches from one side of the space to the other. Suspended shelves are known as *tsuridana 釣棚.
