A wooden dowel or plug used to fill a hole in a piece of timber. If a knot or some other flaw needs to be removed from a timber that is exposed to public view, it is filled with a matching piece wood. If the timber is hidden by structural members, the knot holes can be filled with material made from discarded scraps of number.
