A ceiling with a clay or mud plaster coating. Used in tea ceremony house *chashitsu ’ƒŽΊ architecture. Examples: a ceiling four mats in size at Miharashidai Œ©°‘δ in Shounantei Γ“μ’ΰ at Saihouji Ό–FŽ›, Kyoto. Tradition has it that Honnami Koetsu –{ˆ’–νŒυ‰x (1558-1637) used this type of ceiling over the mat interior of the Daikoan ‘ε‹•ˆΑ tea cottage built in Takagamine ‘ιƒ–•τ, Kyoto.
