touge 
KEY WORD : architecture / general terms
 
1 The highest point or top surface of a structural element. For example, keta-no-touge 桁の峠 means the topmost surface of a purlin or pole plate *hanamoya 鼻母屋.

2 The peak made by cutting one or two inclined planes into the top of a beam. See *kogaeri 小返 and accompanying drawings.
