tooshidana　通し棚

A wall-to-wall shelf located in the area known as *tokowaki 床脇 which is next to an alcove *tokonoma 床の間. The shelf itself is called tooridana 通り棚 or *ichimonjidana 一文字棚. Above it are staggered shelves *chigaidana 違い棚, and cupboards with sliding doors that are attached to the ceiling. These are called tenbukuro 天袋.
