Lit. candlestick stone. One of the *yaku-ishi –πΞ of the *tsukubai ηLζυ, set of stones in a tea garden *roji ˜I’n. Placed to the user's left of the water basin *chouzubachi Žθ…”«, it is flat like the opposing *yuoke-ishi “’‰±Ξ but is usually somewhat lower. Teshoku-ishi are used during a nocturnal tea gathering when a candle or lantern is placed on it to help light the tsukubai.
