Lit. under construction pagoda. A pagoda at Kanshinji ŠΟSŽ› in Osaka that has only its first story. Kusunoki Masashige “ν–ؐ³¬ (1298-1336), a supporter of Emperor Godaigo Œγ‘ηŒν (reigned 1318-39) vowed to build a three-storied pagoda in his honor. However, Kusunoki Masashige was killed by Ashikaga Takauji ‘«—˜‘ΈŽ (1305-58), and Emperor Godaigo defeated, and thus the second and third stories were never built.
