tatehozo　竪ほぞ

Also written 縦ほぞ. Usually the two tenons made on each end of a threshold *shikii 敷居 and inserted into the mortises *hozoana ほぞ穴 made in the posts that frame the opening of a sliding door or screens. The tenons are usually vertically longer than they are wide.
