taru-no-kuchi 樽の口

1 An abbreviation of taru-no-kuchi kanamono 樽の口金物. Part of the metal cover *kugikakushi 釘隠 used to hide nails or hinges on a gate, or bargeboard pendants *gegyo 懸魚. The taru-no-kuchi is a metal projection, similar to the shape of a plug on a sake 酒 barrel.

2 A type of nail, also called *noshigata-no-kugi のしがたの釘, noshigashira kugi 熨斗頭釘, kanimekugi 蟹目釘.
