Lit. jewelled edge. 1　The tip on the rear, narrow end of a half-round roof tile *marugawara 丸瓦. It is made for the purpose of placing the front end of the next half-round tile over it so that the connection is smooth and a tight fit is achieved. 2　The top bar(s) of a fence usually treated more decoratively than the lower bars *oshibuchi 押縁. Typically, split bamboo or other materials are bundled together and then tied with dyed cords into decorative knots, keshoumusubi 化粧結び and tamabuchikazari 玉縁飾り.
